What's the difference between Invoice Home and Invvy?

Invoice Home is an account-based invoicing service that meters a dollar cap on free, then charges $9 a month for unlimited volume. Invvy is a browser invoice generator with no account and no cap; both produce a PDF you can send, but they disagree on what 'free' means and on how much of the send-and-collect job they take on.

That's the split. Everything else is taste and workflow.

What is Invoice Home?

Invoice Home is a signed-up invoicing platform with a large template gallery, email send, payment links, and native iOS and Android apps. Founded in 2011 and now based in Austin, its about page claims more than 10 million accounts (a later update on the same page says 12 million). The free plan is a volume gate: $1,000 billed in the past 30 days.

The homepage leads with 100 templates, plus estimates, quotes, receipts, and purchase orders. They also own the search term that feeds this category. In our August 2026 snapshot, invoice template was still the fattest US template query (about 133,000 monthly searches), and Invoice Home held a top slot. Branded search was up about 170 to 180 percent in Australia and 140 to 150 percent in the US versus the year before, on Google Trends.

Invvy is a free invoice generator that runs in your browser: you click the document and type, with no signup, no watermark, and no invoice cap. The PDF is built on your device, we ship four templates, and we do not email the invoice or take cards. We built it because the job is often just the PDF. How much does Invoice Home cost in 2026?

Two plans on the live signup page: Free at $0, capped at $1,000 invoiced in the past 30 days, and Unlimited Invoicing at $9 a month. The meter is dollars, not invoice count, so a plumber's single $1,400 bathroom invoice on 3 August is already over. Three $450 freelance invoices in the same 30 days ($1,350) trip it too. Ten $80 lessons ($800) stay free.

Unlimited at $9 a month is $108 a year if you stay monthly. Cheap next to most accounting suites. Still a subscription for a PDF you can download without one.

What do Invoice Home reviews actually say?

Scores split by country and by store: Trustpilot's US invoicehome.com page sat at 4.4 from 191 reviews when we sampled it, and the UK page was 3.8 from 162. Capterra's UK listing showed about 4.6 from 82 reviews, and written themes match: templates and speed on the plus side, the dollar cap on the minus.

Google Play lists 1 million+ installs and about 7,400 reviews. The App Store showed 4.6 from about 370 ratings. Play reviewers who thought 'free' meant a clean PDF after they had typed the bill call the $1,000 wall a bait-and-switch. Invoice Home replies that the cap is disclosed and upgrade is optional. Both sides can be true. The signup page prints the $1,000 line. Ads do not always lead with it. On Reddit, people asking for an Invoice Home alternative usually hit that wall first.

A side hustle billing $600 a month can live on free forever. A contractor's first $2,200 deposit invoice cannot. Some Capterra reviews mention branding on free PDFs. The live signup page talks about the dollar cap, not a watermark. Invvy never prints one. G2 is thinner.

Who should pick Invoice Home, and who should pick Invvy?

Pick Invoice Home for send, collect, and a hundred looks; pick Invvy for an unlimited, unwatermarked PDF with no account. Invoice Home wins on templates, email, PayPal/Stripe links, and native apps, which is why a decorator in a hallway can mail a bill and take a card. We do not do that, and we will not pretend we do.

Pick Invoice Home if those are the job and you either stay under $1,000 in 30 days or $9 a month is fine. Pick Invvy if you want an unlimited, unwatermarked PDF with no account and no upload.
