Invvy vs MYOB: A Free Tax Invoice vs Business Lite
Pick Invvy if you need to bill a client now: a free GST tax invoice PDF, no account, nothing uploaded. Pick MYOB if you need GST tracking, BAS lodgement, payroll, inventory, or a bookkeeper on the file. Invvy is not MYOB. MYOB is accounting software with invoicing attached.
Last updated: August 2026. Invvy makes an invoice PDF in your browser with no signup. MYOB is Australian accounting software: Lite and Pro in the browser, Solo on your phone, AccountRight on the desktop for heavier stock and pay runs. If you only need to bill someone, start with the PDF.

MYOB is a trademark of MYOB Australia Pty Ltd and its related companies. This is an independent comparison. We're an alternative for the invoice PDF, not a rival ledger, and we're not affiliated with MYOB. The honest split: Invvy takes the "I just need to bill someone" job. We don't take the bookkeeper.
What's the difference between Invvy and MYOB?
Invvy is a client-side invoice generator. The homepage is the editor. You fill the document, download an unwatermarked PDF, and the numbers never leave your machine. MYOB is a business file: income, expenses, GST, bank feeds, optional payroll, optional inventory, and a login you can hand to an advisor. That's a ledger with invoicing attached, not a PDF tool.
A Saturday photographer wraps a $1,850 wedding at 11pm. Invvy's path is open the Australian preset, drop in the couple's names, add the ABN, mark GST, write Due 3 September 2026, export. MYOB's path is: pick Solo (phone only) or Lite (browser), subscribe, connect up to two bank accounts, then raise the sale so it hits the GST report. Fine if you already live in that file. Slow if the couple's waiting in the driveway.
Invvy today: four templates, 40+ currencies, a GST label, quotes and receipts and proforma, local save in IndexedDB. No email send. No cloud account. No payment collection. We built the generator after watching sole traders pay for MYOB all year and still export a one-off PDF because the job was "send a bill", not "reconcile July".
How much does MYOB cost in Australia in 2026?
MYOB's plans page, checked August 2026, prices Business Lite at A$315 a year after the intro on yearly billing, about A$26.25 a month. Solo is A$12 the first year on the promo we saw, then A$99 a year.
Promos rotate, so confirm the live number before you buy. The first Lite year was advertised at A$94.50 (70% off). After that you're on the regular A$315. Lite adds a browser, unlimited users, GST and BAS lodgement, job tracking, basic inventory, and payroll as an add-on at A$3 per employee per month, capped at two people. Pro is A$70 a month after its offer, with unlimited bank accounts and unlimited payroll heads at that same A$3 rate. AccountRight Plus and Premier sit at A$165 and A$210 a month after their intros, for stock, time billing, and (on Premier) multi-currency.
Unlimited invoices are included once you pay. That's a cleaner invoice story than Xero Ignite's 20-a-month cap (see Invvy vs Xero). You're still paying hundreds of dollars a year for a ledger. Invvy's PDF is A$0. Two staff on Lite payroll is another A$72 a year on top of the A$315 file.

Open the invoice generatorWe checked public reviews in August 2026 on ProductReview.com.au, Trustpilot, Capterra, Software Advice, and Australian threads on Reddit. Long-time AccountRight users still like the depth. Newer cloud subscribers report more friction. Themes, not named quotes. We're not inventing a Trustpilot star average we couldn't load cleanly.
ProductReview.com.au showed 3.5 from 3,523 reviews when we opened the listing. Capterra and Software Advice, which share a review pool, sat near 3.9 from about 150 reviews. The consumer site is cooler than the software panel. Read the themes, not the badge.
- Cancellation. Reviewers on ProductReview and Trustpilot often say you cannot finish cancel in the dashboard: you ring, you wait, you get a retention pitch, and a few report being billed after they asked to stop. MYOB's own FAQ still says there is no lock-in and you can cancel anytime. Factor both stories in before a trial converts.
- Hold times. Phone support is the selling point until EOFY or a BAS week, when queues stretch. Recent ProductReview notes mention hour-plus waits. On Reddit, r/australia and r/smallbusiness threads regularly pair "I called MYOB" with a long hold.
- Price creep. Annual rises above what people budgeted, plus add-ons for payroll and extra inventory, show up in Capterra and Software Advice as the file getting dear after year two.
- Complexity / overkill. Software Advice reviewers still say the product expects you to think like a bookkeeper. Chart of accounts, GST codes, and payroll fields are not a Saturday job for a sole trader who wanted a tax invoice.
- Bank-feed lock-in. Lite and Pro connect Australian banks (two accounts on Lite). That convenience is also the hook: once the year lives in the feed, leaving means rebuilding the file. ProductReview threads also describe duplicate transfers and desktop-to-online moves that break a workflow people had used for a decade.
Those are accounting-product problems. If you never opened the bank feed, you never needed the product that has them.
What can MYOB do that Invvy cannot?
MYOB is better at Australian books. Direct BAS lodgement on Lite and above, bank feeds, payroll with Single Touch Payroll and super, inventory and orders, job costing, and a seat for your bookkeeper. Invvy isn't an accounting suite. We don't pretend the PDF replaces EOFY.
- BAS and GST. Lite can track GST and lodge the activity statement toward the ATO. Solo tracks GST and stops at reports you lodge yourself. Invvy can print a 10% GST line. That is all.
- Payroll. Add people on Lite (max two) or Pro. AccountRight includes pay runs. Awards, leave, and STP are why tradies still keep a MYOB file. Invvy has no employees screen.
- Inventory. Lite and Pro handle stock at one location (unlimited lines cost extra). AccountRight goes deeper. Invvy has line items, not a warehouse.
- Send, track, pay. Lite and above include smart invoice reminders. Solo lists Tap to Pay and online payments. Invvy prints your BSB and PayID. The transfer is between you and the client.
- Multi-user. Lite and above let you share the file with an advisor at no extra seat fee. Solo is one profile. Invvy is your laptop.
Phone support exists on the business plans, which Xero's standard plans do not offer. That is a real plus at STP cutoff, if you can get through.
Who should pick Invvy, and who should pick MYOB?
Pick MYOB if you lodge BAS from the software, pay staff, hold stock, or your bookkeeper already knows the file. Pick Invvy if you just need to send a tax invoice today and you don't need a live ledger. Freelancers, sole traders, tradies billing one job, and side hustles who keep PDFs in a folder fit the second box.
Google Trends for Australia over the past year shows myob and myob invoice each down about 20%. Invoice template australia roughly doubled. Searches for a free or online invoice are up sharply. The search is shifting toward "just send the bill." That is the user we built for.
A two-person landscaping crew with a mower-parts shelf and quarterly BAS belongs in MYOB. A copywriter sending four invoices a quarter does not, unless their accountant insists on a file. If they insist on Xero instead, read Invvy vs Xero and do what the accountant can actually open. Put the due date in words and numbers. "Due on receipt" sounds stern and gets ignored. "Due 3 September 2026" lands on a calendar.

Can you send an Australian tax invoice without MYOB?
Yes. Software is optional; the document is not. If you're GST-registered you need a tax invoice with your identity, ABN, the date, what you sold with quantity and price, and the GST. The ATO does not require MYOB, or any other brand, on the page.
The official list is on the ATO's tax invoice page and business.gov.au. From $1,000 you also need the buyer's identity or ABN. If a customer asks, you've got 28 days, except for sales of $82.50 or less including GST. Not GST-registered? Don't title it "tax invoice." Still put your ABN on bills to other businesses. Skip the ABN on a business invoice and the buyer is supposed to withhold (the ATO's no-ABN rate has been 47%). Frequently asked questions
Is Invvy a MYOB alternative?
For the invoice PDF, yes. For the books, no. Invvy won't lodge BAS, run payroll, hold inventory, or give your bookkeeper a login. If you opened MYOB only to type a tax invoice, you can stop paying for the file. If the file is how you close the quarter, keep MYOB.
What is the cheapest MYOB plan in 2026?
Solo is the cheapest ongoing plan we saw on MYOB's pricing page in August 2026: A$12 the first year on the promo, then A$99 a year, phone only, GST tracking without BAS lodgement. Business Lite is the cheapest browser plan, A$315 a year after the intro offer on yearly billing. Payroll on Lite is extra at A$3 per employee per month, max two staff.
Does MYOB Solo include quotes?
Yes on the live comparison table we checked in August 2026: Solo lists create and send unlimited quotes and invoices, plus Tap to Pay. Older plan notes used to mark quotes as coming soon. If you quote every job from a laptop, Lite (or Invvy, with the title set to QUOTE) is still the better desk tool, because Solo is the phone app.
Can I invoice without MYOB if I have an ABN?
Yes. An ABN lives on the invoice, not inside a subscription. Put your legal name or business name, ABN, the client's details, a number, dates, lines, and the total. GST-registered sellers add the tax-invoice wording and GST. MYOB is one way to store that history. It is not a licence to bill.
Does MYOB Lite include payroll?
Not in the base price. Lite lets you add payroll for up to two employees at A$3 per employee per month, with Single Touch Payroll and super once that add-on is on. Pro uses the same per-head add-on with no headcount cap. AccountRight bundles unlimited payroll. Invvy has no payroll at any price.
Is MYOB better than Invvy for bookkeeping?
Yes. That's the point of MYOB. Bank feeds, GST codes, BAS, payroll, inventory, and advisor access are bookkeeping. Invvy is a PDF. If your question is which one keeps your books, pick MYOB or Xero. If your question is which one lets you bill a client in the next ten minutes, pick Invvy.
Can I cancel MYOB from the dashboard?
MYOB's site says there is no lock-in and you can cancel anytime. Independent reviews on ProductReview and Trustpilot in 2026 still describe a phone cancellation, long holds, and the odd extra bill after people asked to stop. Set a reminder before a trial converts. Invvy has nothing to cancel: close the tab.
